Access to Névache

How to find us?

Part of the charm and beauty of our valley comes from its remoteness. Hence it is quite a journey to make it to Névache. After having read the lines below, please fell free to contact us so we can help you organize your trip!

  • By plane :

The closest airports are Torino in Italy (1.5 hours in summer, 2 hours in winter), and Marseille or Grenoble in France (3.5 hours). You can then find a shuttle bus to the nearest train station (in Marseille or Grenoble) or directly to Briançon (in winter from Torino Aiport, see here). Or you can rent a car and follow the "by car" indications.

  • By train :

The closest train stations are Briançon (20 kilometers/minutes) in France, and Bardonnechia and Oulx in Italy.

There's a night train from Paris to Briançon, where you can hop on a shuttle bus that takes you straight to our hotel (you can book with us in advance, and have a look here).

Another option, which is growing popular, is to take a TGV train from Paris to either Bardonecchia or Oulx, on the Paris-Milan line. In summer, stop in Bardonechia, where we'll come and get you (if you give us some warning). In winter, stop in Oulx, where there are shuttles to Briançon/Serre-Chevalier (click here for prices and times). Stop in La Vachette, where you take another shuttle (click here for prices and times) to reach your final destination : Névache, hurrah !

From Marseille or AIx-en-Provence, there are regular trains (or coaches) through the day.

  • By car :

Several accesses to our valley, depending where you come from.

From the South (Marseille, Aix en Provence) : there's a motorway taking you from Marseille or Aix-en-Provence to Tallard, where it ends (it costs around 13 euros). You then follow the highway that leads you to Embrun, l'Argentière-la-Bessée and then Briançon. In Briançon, follow the signs guiding to Montgenèvre and Italy. 3 kilometers after Briançon, you turn left in the Clarée valley. Névache is now 16 kilometers away, after the picturesque hamlets or villages of La Vachette, le Rosier, Val-des-Prés and Plampinet. You can then find our hotel in Le Roubion hamlet, which is the first one after the Névache roadsign, where you turn right. You'll see a tennis court, then a restaurant and a little grocery store, turn right again at the next junction.

From the East (Italy and Torino) : if you drive across Italy, aim for Torino. From Torino, you'll find a motorway (3 different tolls for a total of a little less than 20 euros) going to France via the Fréjus tunnel.

In summer, you can stay on the motorway until Bardonecchia, where you exit to climb the Echelle pass (Colle della Scala). Coming dow on the french side of this pass, you're in the Clarée valley, where you turn right at the first give way sign. You can then find our hotel in Le Roubion hamlet, which is the first one after the Névache roadsign, where you turn right again. You'll see a tennis court, then a restaurant and a little grocery store, turn right once more at the next junction.

In winter, you exit the motorway in Oulx, to follow the road that climbs to the Clavières and Montgenèvre ski resorts. From Montgenèvre, follow the main road going down to Briançon. After the last hairpin bend, you turn on the first road to your right. Névache is now 16 kilometers away, after the picturesque hamlets or villages of Les Alberts, le Rosier, Val-des-Prés and Plampinet. You can then find our hotel in Le Roubion hamlet, which is the first one after the Névache roadsign, where you turn right. You'll see a tennis court, then a restaurant and a little grocery store, turn right again at the next junction.

From the North (Paris, Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry or Annecy) : this itinerary takes you through the Maurienne valley to the Fréjus tunnel. It's quick but expensive (a 13-euro-toll in the Maurienne valley, and a 50-euro-return-ticket for the tunnel, valid 8 days). On the Italian side, you follow the directions from the East (Bardonecchia in summer, and from Oulx in winter).

From the West (Grenoble, or as an other option from Lyon) : for the Tour de France followers (or the ski lovers). From Grenoble, this road will take you through Bourg d'Oisans (at the bottom of l'Alpe d'Huez), and up the Lautaret pass through La Grave. You'll follow the signs to Briançon, which you can find from the start in Grenoble. Once in Briançon, follow the signs guiding to Montgenèvre and Italy.

In winter, make sure you have the proper tires on your car (and you tire-chains handy).
